A small gift given to me by Between Distances after his return from the Emerald Isle. I had to celebrate it on here!
Cliftonville F.C., founded in 1879, is Eire’s oldest Football Club and also the club with the oldest serving ground, “Solitude”. In Ulster, they are one of the very few professional clubs with a strong Republican following, making Belfast Derbies hot and contentious affairs, even if lower in scale than the Old Firm. Also as a result, Cliftonville fans are linked to Celtic, St Pauli and the usual array of left-leaning fan groups.
Thanks for the badge bro! It’ll stay on one of my City scarves. Check out great alternative travel writing and some great Away Day stories from Between Distances.
