I don’t like flee markets.
I get that you can get a good bargain. But spending hours going through someone else’s shit is tedious. Unless you find something like this. A contented aging Turkish bloke with a couple stalls on a Saturday in Stuttgart was found selling a huge collection of Football club badges spanning almost all European leagues with such unlikely clubs as Continue reading
Tuesday evening saw Kuala Lumpur FA beat Sabah 2-0 at the Stadium MPS to successfully tie off their campaign with promotion from the Malaysian Premier League, the second tier, to the Malaysian Super League, the top flight. Yes that is correct. KLFA, the one team of the Malaysian capital city, has been absent from the country’s top flight for 6 years. Being the only professional club within its administrative boundaries, the capital has had absolutely no representation in the highest level of domestic Continue reading

In another late night research session, we came across this banner created by RC Strasbourg Alsace Ultra group, the Ultra Boys 90 Strasbourg, objecting to the Hull City name change. Unsure when this was created, likely late 2013 or early 2014. If somebody knows, get in touch.

They rank countries based on population size, success, GDP per capita and working-class population size; the metrics they believe contribute toward international success in the sport. Football’s low barriers to entry have made it thrive in cities and countries with large working-class populations. All you need is a ball to play. Thus, in theory, countries with larger blue-collar populations will produce better Footballers and are more likely to be successful.
Their prediction? Turkey. But there is one factor they didn’t take into account. Continue reading
You’ve not made it as a city until a pop song has been written for you. New York. Paris. Amsterdam. Bangkok. Erm, Amarillo. This tradition exists among songwriters in other languages also. In German, the ballads are usually dedicated to the romance, excitement and hedonism of Berlin. It lends itself far better to poetry than, for example, Bremerhaven. But one unlikely German city has found itself subject of a modern smash-hit.
Rostock. The song Continue reading
