This great website, Historicalkits.co.uk, has managed to work to create complete lists of previous playing shirts of British football clubs going back centuries. The site gives a brief but accurate club history and even has information about some very obscure clubs sometimes no long in existance, such as ‘Burton Wanderers’, ‘Middlesbrough Ironopolis’ and ‘Stalybridge Celtic’.
‘AMF’ type fans will love a long browse at the pre-war kits and the various fashions you can identify coming in and out of professional football shirts before sponsorship became ubiquitous. For me, it was great to see confirmation that Hull City’s first playing colours were the Black and Amber stripes and not white like so many claim. Worth a peek to check out your team’s playing history.
